Holidays & Respite Care

Get in Touch

Situated just off England's South coast and less than 2 hours from London via the Isle of Wight Ferry, the Isle of Wight is the perfect destination at any time of year!

Isle of wight coast

From truly stunning coastlines to unique experiences.

There are lots of things to do on the island, such as visiting our amazing beaches, coastal walks and historic houses and gardens. It also has the last remaining Hovercraft service in the world for a truly unique way to travel.

Yarmouth is a coastal town and is linked by the Wightlink car ferry via Lymington. We have annual events such as the Annual Carnival and Firework display. With two yacht clubs, there are a variety of sailing weekends and Regattas too. Sitting on the sea wall, you can idle away many hours, just watching the activity in the harbour. Our RNLI Lifeboat crew is active and is supported by a local shop.

Yarmouth has a variety of Independent eating places. The George Hotel is ‘fine dining’ and sumptuous, the three local Pubs offer a wide variety of food choices and gardens to sit in and ‘On the Rocks’ where you can cook steak to your liking!  We benefit from superb cafes, delis and shops selling local foods, ice-creams and cakes! We truly do have something for everyone.

Respite care at Abbeyfield Yarmouth Society Ltd

Respite care is the provision of short-term accommodation in a facility outside the home. This provides temporary relief to those who are caring for family members and respite also provides a positive experience for the person.

Even though many families take great joy in providing ‘care’ to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical and emotional consequences for the family can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite for their older family member.

Respite provides a break for you and family members which may prove beneficial to the health of all those involved.

Use these questions to see if respite care with us is the right option for you. We assume that you are not in need of nursing or medical care and that you are in general good health.

  1. Has a family member, who supports you, booked a holiday?
  2. Are you worried about coping whilst they are away?
  3. Would you like some time out from your home?
  4. Would you like to feel supported but need your own space?
  5. Is it important to you that you feel safe, warm and have your own private room and en-suite room?
  6. Do you feel overwhelmed in the company of too many people, but still like meeting new people?
  7. Would you like to have your meals cooked for you and not have to do the washing-up?
  8. Would you like to know that someone is there for you at the end of the phone 24hours a day?
  9. Would you like to know that you can come and go as you please throughout your stay?

If the answer is yes to some, or all of the above, then staying at Abbeyfield Yarmouth Society Ltd for some respite care, could be a good option for you. Download the leaflet here.
